About Me
Every batch of MTN Incense begins with carefully sourced materials and are made into incense by myself personally at my home studio. Each material is hand ground according to its individual requirements and crafted into high quality stick incenses utilizing methods I have personally developed over years of practicing the art of incense making.
Living in the west presents its challenges when it comes to the availability of high-quality aromatic woods. I don’t take for granted the materials I come upon and because of this I diligently test each material sometimes a dozen iterations before I finally settle on a recipe optimized for each material. While this is a laborious process, I feel it gives me the freedom to bring out the very essence of each unique aromatic wood. With each new batch of incense, I bring along the lessons learned from the successes and failures of my humble practice.
It is always my wish that the package in hand is worthy of the contents it holds.
Most MTN Incense is packaged in a custom-made Japanese Kiri Bako. Each of the Paulownia boxes were hand-made for us to house our 100mm length sticks safely in your collection. The artwork found on each package is a keyhole view of a beautiful painting from an 18th century unnamed Bhutanese thangka master.
