Vintage Mysore Sandalwood – Black Meat

Santalum Album or White Sandalwood is one of the most sought-after fragrant woods in the world, the best type and quality coming from the South of India, Mysore, Karnataka region. Black meat sandalwood is dark in color with much of the oil content converted to resin and presents a wonderful deep base note that is uncommon to most sandalwoods. This heartwood material is especially hard and takes several days of tedious grinding and sifting to produce a small amount of material fine enough for successful extrusion into stick incense.
